The Comox Year-Round School Street will be cheaper than constructing a bike lane because all that is required are the barriers at either end of the street.
Minimal parking revenue will be lost because the meter parking only brings in $1 per hour during the daytime and many residential parking permits are grandfathered to bring in negligible revenue ($110.03/year versus $423.91/year “market rate”). A rough estimate of parking revenue from this block of Comox Street, assuming market rate not grandfathered parking permit rates is less than $7000 per year.
The School Street block is not close enough to Denman Street to support retail and restaurant businesses.
