Our Direct Appeal Fundraiser

What is the Direct appeal?

First, from our whole Parent Advisory Council Executive: THANK YOU! Through fundraising events, parent-teacher meetings, sports, concerts, after-school activities, and everything else that happens throughout the school year, you have shown your commitment to giving your child the best possible education and school experience. Your passion is noticed and your contributions are appreciated.

The Direct Appeal is the major annual PAC fundraiser for Lord Roberts Elementary. Last year, the appeal funded our new water bottle filling station, new bean bag chairs in the library, a class set of whiteboards, calculators and much more. Fundraising goals are based on parent priorities from the annual Parent Survey, and consultation with teachers, principals and staff.

To achieve the goals of parents, and the school, we are recommending a one time donation of $150 (tax deductible) per child.

Not every family will be able to contribute this much, and donations of any amount are appreciated. If everyone in our school community does what they can, we will reach our goal. We encourage those who are able to contribute more than $150 per child to do so. This supports other families in our school community who may not be able to contribute the whole amount.

Donations are not restricted to Lord Roberts families. Please forward the direct appeal sent out Thursday November 21 to family, friends and others, who would be interested and able to donate to enhance your child’s school

What is The Fundraising For?

The funding the school receives from the BC government provides only BASIC learning resources. Based on your input, PAC is fundraising for:
  • $10 per student for each teacher to use to fund classroom resources. Combined with our Gaming Grant this will provide $20 per student.
  • $15 per student for field trips. For example, yellow bus rentals start at $400.
  • A literacy kit/program to ensure every student at Lord Roberts is supported in gaining a
  • level of literacy required to succeed. Cost Approx $8500.
  • STEM resources (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) focusing on Coding, Robotics and Makers Lab.
  • Enhancement to Arts programs through resources/supplies and programs.
  • School-wide sports enhancement programs. Significant investment in basic classroom upgrades such as projectors, speakers, rugs and tables. Ensuring funding is protected for important programs like Edible Education,
  • LunchLab, Sports Day, Movie Nights, and more.

How Much Does Our School Need?

To achieve all of the above our fundraising goal is $89,500. This might sound like a large number, but if we break it down it amounts to just $150 per child for the whole year. Some of the items that will be funded will need to be funded each year, but a majority of the things on our budget will continue to add value to our school and our kids for many years to come.

Last year 72 people donationed to the direct appeal. With over 600 students in our school, we hope that this year 200 families and community members will participate. Whether you can donate $5, $20, $200 or $2000, if every family takes five minutes to hop online and donate what they can, we will be able to do so many more amazing things to help our kids learn and grow.

Some families, or businesses, may wish to offer a more significant contribution to fund a whole initiative. Please contact our PAC Chair at info@lordrobertspac.ca to discuss which initiatives you would like to fund. These donations can still be made through school cash online to receive a tax receipt.
