What is the Direct appeal?
First, from our whole Parent Advisory Council Executive: THANK YOU! Through fundraising events, parent-teacher meetings, sports, concerts, after-school activities, and everything else that happens throughout the school year, you have shown your commitment to giving your child the best possible education and school experience. Your passion is noticed and your contributions are appreciated.
The Direct Appeal is the major annual PAC fundraiser for Lord Roberts Elementary. Last year, the appeal funded our new water bottle filling station, new bean bag chairs in the library, a class set of whiteboards, calculators and much more. Fundraising goals are based on parent priorities from the annual Parent Survey, and consultation with teachers, principals and staff.
To achieve the goals of parents, and the school, we are recommending a one time donation of $150 (tax deductible) per child.
Not every family will be able to contribute this much, and donations of any amount are appreciated. If everyone in our school community does what they can, we will reach our goal. We encourage those who are able to contribute more than $150 per child to do so. This supports other families in our school community who may not be able to contribute the whole amount.
Donations are not restricted to Lord Roberts families. Please forward the direct appeal sent out Thursday November 21 to family, friends and others, who would be interested and able to donate to enhance your child’s school
What is The Fundraising For?
The funding the school receives from the BC government provides only BASIC learning resources. Our parent community and the teachers’ financial committee have expressed through surveys, conversations and meetings that they are aligned that classrooms are the most important focus for fundraising. To support that shared focus the PAC is fundraising to modernize classrooms at Lord Roberts through the purchase and install of projectors, AppleTVs, speakers, cables and other associated items so that our teachers can provide a current education to our children.
How Much Does Our School Need?
The total cost to complete the classroom modernization project is expected to be $30,000.
Last year over 70 people donationed to the direct appeal contributing just over $15,000. We hope that we can expand that again this year to support our children and teachers. If we do not receive the full $30,000 we will continue with the project, just with a longer timeline and more fundraising.
PAC is excited to share that this year our Silent Auction raised over $2,000 which will go to this project, so we are already on our way.
Some families, or businesses, may wish to offer a more significant contribution to fund a whole initiative. Please contact our PAC Chair at email@example.com to discuss which initiatives you would like to fund. These donations can still be made through school cash online to receive a tax receipt.
