All PAC Events Are At Risk of Being Cancelled Due to Low Volunteer Turnout
Time is Valuable – We get it!
First off – a Very Big Thank You to all who have helped out with the past events. Unfortunately, not enough parents and caretakers are volunteering at our school.
We must get more help to make all these fantastic events and campaigns happen. Unless more parents and caretakers begin to volunteer, events this year are all at risk of being cancelled.
The last Funfest & the Welcome BBQ were a huge struggle, and we cannot take them on with the number of people we have helping out today. FunFest ran with half of the necessary volunteers (it takes around 200 students and adults), and we had 32 of the 80 requested volunteers for the back-to-school BBQ. These shortages cause too much stress and pressure on those who show up for us to continue without a change.
The good news is that with a small donation of time, we can achieve these community-building events and raise the money that makes such an enormous difference for our school, teachers and students.
To make it as easy as possible to help, below is a link to all the volunteer opportunities available for the rest of the year. Please take 3 to 5 minutes to look at the link and sign yourself up to donate 10 hours to your child’s school this year.
Our school has over 650 students and approximately 400 families, while some families have big reasons they cannot help out (and we get it). If each family could donate 10 hours over the entire school year, we would have more than enough help to ensure the success and enjoyment of our fundraising & events.
Please take a look through, Sign Up For Something, mark your calendar and let’s all work together to make this year the Best Year Ever!

Why volunteer?
Research shows that children perform better at school when their parents are involved and one of the best ways to get involved is to volunteer to help run PAC events, activities and programs. By volunteering you will get to know school staff and other parents, get to know what is happening at the school and maybe thrill your child with a surprise hug and kiss during the school day when you deliver pizza to their class on Pizza Lunch day! Volunteering shows our kids the value of contributing to our community and parent and caregiver volunteers make our programs and events possible. We ask that each family contributes a minimum of 10 hours per school year. That’s a minimum of 10 hours over 10 months - not all in one week!
We've set out some information below about some of the PAC activities, events and programs that need volunteers. If you would like more information about any of the volunteering opportunities below or if you're interested in volunteering in a different way, please get in touch with the PAC to let us know what you have to offer.
Division Representatives
Your child's class is called a "Division" and given a Division Number. There are approximately 28 Divisions at Roberts! The PAC appoints a volunteer parent "Division Representative" for each Division.
The primary role of a Division Rep is to create a parent chat group using the Signal app so that families can communicate with each other, receive reminders of important dates such as early dismissals or professional development (Pro-D) days, organize gifts for teachers, or share class photos from field trips. There is more information about Parent Division Chat Groups under the About tab (Chat Group Guidelines).
If you would like to volunteer to be the Division Rep for your child's class, please send an email with your children's Division Number(s) and your phone number to [email protected]. You will find out your children's division numbers at the end of the first week of school. We will only assign you to be the Division Rep of one of your children's classes if you have more than one child at Roberts, but it helps us to fill the gaps if you let us know both/all of your children's Division Numbers.
Pizza Lunch
Want to know what it feels like to be a hero? try walking into a classroom at lunchtime with fresh pizza! We can't make this program run without student and parent volunteers. You would help prep pizza and supplies for individual classrooms, deliveries (aka Hero moment) as well as clean up. Adults and grade 6/7 students needed Click Here to Volunteer!
Fundraising & Events
Fundraising has become a huge part of Roberts life. We have a number of events, campaigns and even a Silent Auction each year and none of it could happen without your help! We have big jobs to fill and small jobs too, jobs you can do at home, in the community and even inside the school! Visit our Fundraising page, our Events page and our F & Event Volunteer Page for all the details on how to get involved!
LunchLAB
LunchLAB is a school program designed to allow student chefs to prepare food for themselves and other students to promote learning, community, and wellness. Grade 7 Student Chefs work with Chef-In-Residence (and Roberts parent) Chef TJ Conwi and Roberts teacher Mr. Brent as an additional leadership and learning extension of the school's Edible Education program. Volunteers are needed to help with dishwashing and cleanup. Click Here to Volunteer!
